I have this hard drive, and the installation software for it doesn't detect it. on boot it says hard drive failure. Is it possible that the hard drive is destroyed, or is something trivial wrong? basicly.........do I need a new one?

What do you mean the installation software doesn't detect it? Do you mean your OS doesn't detect it 'cause it's a SATA drive or something?
