I'd hesitate when thinking of buying 2nd hand sapphire goods. Their warranty only truly covers the first owner and that's IF you have your receipt or invoice. They make you pay to process an RMA if you're the 2nd owner or don't have a receipt. Asus and MSI go by serial number which is the way it should be and don't charge to process an RMA.

Maybe a small gripe but I think it's valid.

Every company has their own warranty standards. XFX recently trashed their double life time due to it no longer being profitable. Not all companies see it as profitable. I do not think ASUS or MSI ever came out saying their warranties are transferable anyway. If you do not like the product, don't buy it.

Actually, Asus and MSI are the only two companies whose standard three-year warranty for graphics cards is transferrable to a second owner. In the case of MSI, the warranty start date is either the date of registration (if registered within 30 days of purchase) or the date of the card's original manufacture. Asus recommends registration. And of all the AMD-based graphics card brands, only XFX and MSI allow overclocking of the GPU within their standard warranties.

And new XFX graphics cards purchased no longer carry the double lifetime warranty: It's either a plain lifetime warranty (same conditions as the former "double lifetime" warranty, but is not transferrable to a second owner) for cards with upgraded coolers and totally reference cards, or a two-year warranty for cheaper, "Core Edition" cards (cards that basically run at reference speeds but with slower memory and/or cheaper, less-effective-than-reference coolers). Of the latter, I'm now beginning to see an XFX Core Edition HD 6750 card (basically the old HD 5750/6750 but with slower DDR3 RAM instead of the DDR5 RAM that was used on the original HD 5750/6750).

This is why we generally do not recommend Sapphire around here. Sorry for your troubles dude.

A brief summary of warranties. I suggest supporting those you trust, the others will see the point or go out of business.

Thanks. It appears that more and more companies will be or are already switching to the warranties practiced by Powercolor and Sapphire. XFX's Core Edition cards now have the exact same warranty and terms as Powercolor and Sapphire - two years, with no extensions available at all whatsoever even at extra cost, and that the warranty applies only to the original (or first) owner.

I just want a lifetime warranty with a good aftermarket cooler. Is that too much to ask for?!
