Screen Tearing (plz help)

If that's the right term. Is it due to my monitor, or my pc's hardware? I get a lot of it during gaming, and whenever I move any windows around my screen I'll notice it.

It's actually pretty annoying and I'd love to be able to do something about it.

To try and isolate teh problem as videocard or monitor click the print screen button on your keyboard. Open MS paint and paste the picture there(cntrl v) once you do that print the picture. If the corruption is in the printed image it's the videocard if not it's your monitor. Once you figure out which is the culprit you'll know what to do from there.
 
But it only happens when I move a window around my screen or when I'm gaming. So how would I see it from printing the screen, (which I've already tried and it didn't show up)?
 
Okay, now we need more info. System info including mobo, cpu, ram, videocard, and Power supply, Also OS and monitor Make/Model. We'll get to the bottom of this or die trying it's the [H] way :D

Well, my specs are:

athlon 64 3500+
MSI K8T NEO2-FIR ATX AMD Motherboard
valueselect corsair 512x2
250gb hdd (can't remember make)
temp replacement nvidia geforce 2 (RMA on my 6800GT at the moment)

Monitor is a Philips PH107C/F/H/T6 CRT flatscreen. Though I'd like to mension that I've had this screen tearing problem ever since I bought my computer a year ago, so it's not my replacement video card. And I hope it's my monitor, because I'm planning on upgrading soon.

Whoops forgot o/s and psu. My o/s is: windows xp pro, and my psu is: 420w purepower.
 
Hmm, if I drag a window around I get tearing.. I think that is normal when dragging a window around. As for games, try enabling vsync.

heh, I never even noticed the window drag tearing until I read this thread. :D
 
I notice screen tearing as well. Moving windows around and also in games like WoW.

I have a Samsung 172X running in DVI mode at 1280x1024x32 native res @ 60Hz. Vsync is forced to on in my nVIDIA control panel as well as in the games I play. It is very annoying, but I am assuming it is something to do with LCD technology.
