I remember a while back seeing something that showed the actual surface area real estate size, and differences between various sizes and was hoping someone has it?

For instance how much more viewable surface area does a 24" have compared to a 22"? Or a 42" TV vs a 37"?

That depends on the aspect ratio. Let's say they're both 16:10.

You can use the Pythagorean theorem to find the length and width.

The home theater guys use this one a lot. It's my first resource unless I'm trying to do 16:10 or something. Better for figuring out the different movie ratios, gives sq inches of viewing space and the percentage different for each ratio.
