Screen Shake...what could be interfering?

I bought the SAMSUNG 19" SyncMaster 955DF...and have to say I love the monitor...but from time to time I get a screen shake.

This screen shake can range from barely noticeable to downright annoying. I can't figure out what may be causing it...

When I brought home the monitor for the first time it was REAL bad. So I took the monitor back to BestBuy and got a replacement...hooked up the second one and same thing.

I then called Tech Support and they said try it in a different area of my house...I took the monitor and my computer to another room and the "Shakes" were absolutely gone. Put the monitor back on my desk and the shakes were back...I then figured out that the little black "transformer" on the power cable that hooks up to my printer was close to my monitor. I moved the transformer from on top of my desk to the ground and the problem was instantly better.

But now from time to time I notice a little bit of screen shake and can't figure out what else it may be causing interference...

Any ideas??

I have kept my monitor in the exact same place it is and unplugged my speakers(Logitech Z-560's), my scanner, my cable modem, my wireless logitech mouse and keyboard and nothing fixes it...

Could it be like my furnace when it is on? or something like that? Or am I overlooking something?

Please help me out before I become a human milkshake watching this shaky screen!

Any AC powered fans or Ac powered motor nearby could cause this. Have you tried running an extension cord to a different outlet on a different breaker to see if it is power related?

It is obviously some sort of interference. Unplug everything electric near the monitor and see if the screen shakes. It shouldn't take you too long. Also try the extension cord thing mentioned above, although I do not think fluctuating voltages or anything like that would cause the problem you describe. I have the same monitor and it flickered whenever I had a fan near it - the classic example.

Possible causes

1. Some sort of electric motor near the monitor. A fan, blower something. Is there a desk fan, ceiling fan or A/C near the location you're having troubles?

2. Unshielded speakers next to the monitor. Cheap speakers OR any type of unshielded speaker can cause problems.

3. Poor quality monitor cable. Your monitor cable should have FERRITES near each end. See this monitor cable from Radio Shack. The ferrites are the cylinders near each cable end. BTW, this is a very good cable. I own one.

4. Poor quality power cord going to the monitor OR a crappy extension cord to the monitor.

5. Some monitors are very suceptible to orientation to the earths magnetic field. Turn the monitor (and desk) 90 degress from it's present location.

6. Not deguassing regularly. If you leave it running 24/7 with a screensaver, it could be building too much of a charge. Degauss weekly.

SOMETHING in your present location is causing it.
