Has anyone used a protective film such as these on their monitor? It seems like a good idea; protecting a $200-600 investment from dust, spit apparently, chemical cleaners, and scratches.

My old monitor right out of the box had that clear plastic cover taped on the bezels that I never took off. And it worked great actually (No glare or reflectivity). I would clean that instead and the LCD screen underneath would stay pristine.

I was wondering if any of you guys do something similar or know of any DIY plastics that I could cut to size at a Home Depot or something as the nushield ones are a little pricey.

Oh, and glad wrap isn't an option. One look and you'll understand why.

Thoughts?

There's no way I'm putting some plastic crap on my IPS panels. Just don't touch the screen with your fingers and wipe with a clean cloth as needed.

It shouldn't distort the picture in any way, keyword shouldn't.

Reason I ask is because this will be in a fairly busy area with 3 users, one of them is a child, plus guests.

Screw it, I might just move this into the bedroom as an external monitor for my laptop. :D
