Hi, I just built a computer and the screen does not work. I plugged everything in including the monitor but it just stays black. No screen pops up. I purchased these through newegg Here are my parts:

1. SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model SH-S223Q - OEM

2. Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

3. Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

4. ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

5. XFX HD-485X-YDDC Radeon HD 4850 XXX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

6. GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

7. Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PVS24G6400LLK

8. AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core black edition Processor

Do the fans spin or no action at all? Is the ATX12v connector plugged into the board? IS the PCIe connector plugged into the video card? What troubleshooting have you done? Have you tried to assemble the board outside of the case? What power supply are you using and have you tested it with the paperclip trick?
Read the troubleshooting guide for tips.

im guessing the system is turning on but not sending a signal to the gfx card to turn on.. 1 suggestion.. if you have any ddr2 memory that runs at the generic 1.80-1.85v throw that into your system and see if it boots up.. i have this problem with my 780g motherboard not setting the memory voltage correctly.. so it wont let the gfx card turn on even though the entire system boots up..

I made sure the video card was connected with the power. The power switch on the back is on. I connected the front panel switch properly cause I tried them all. The fans are spinning (CPU fan) and the fans that came with the case. I tried both ports for the monitor on the back and I used an old computer and the monitor works fine. Im using a corsair 450W. What is the paperclip trick? I dont' have any ddr2 memory. My friend suggested it might be my monitor being too old school. I tried connecting the monitor to my laptop but it doesn't work but I'm still unsure which part is wrong.

Your power supply seems to work, so no need to use the "paperclip trick". You short the green wire with a ground(black) to test the supply. Try clearing the CMOS or removing the battery for a few minutes. Then power on while pressing the insert key and get into the BIOS. Could be some settings are wrong by default. You should make sure your video card is the selected device for graphics.

its possible.. but i doubt that the monitor being old would cause it.. though if you have a tv with a pc hookup.. you could always try that.. or try with the svid cable.. even without the drivers being installed the svid connection should still show the bios and everything starting up..if that works then maybe it could be the monitor..
