ok on the last 2 boots (which I could only achieve after unplugging the power cord to successfully shutdown) - the screen flickers and the computer freezes. Have latest bios and drivers for everything.

WTF is going on - I have have been dorking around with this build for 3 weeks now and it still won't run stable. getting ready to throw it out the window!!

Overclock too much? Is everything in to BIOS set to stock? what have you tweaked?

is the HSF seated correctly? after the machine locks up... restart it right away and check the temps in the bios.

Have not overclocked yet (still trying t get stable) - bios is default.

Just installed a IFX-14 and temps are fine.

I have a batch of Thinkpads that do the same thing - screen flickers, machine freezes. Turns out it's the heatsink for the video chip popping loose. I'd check your vidcard.

haven't taken the 9800gtxs out, but I also received this message "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Any ideas. Running the new nvidia beta drivers. (had this with old 174.174 drivers as well)

Well I seem to be ok right now - I did a system restore to prior to the beta drivers. Took out the 9800gtxs and looked them over - they looked fine but are basically encased in plastic. Reset the bios.

Played Oblivion for several hours and it didn't crash. We will wait and see what happens.
