Honestly, looking at that massive cable connecting these two rats, I doubt they feel as "lucky" as the good doctor here says. What do you guys think of this? Thanks to [H] forum member -PK- for the link.

Imagine how much more effective something like a Navy SEAL team could be if this technology were refined to the point where it was portable and could function wirelessly.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. -Albert Einstein

This is how it starts

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile

I'm surprised the 2nd mouse can decode and feel the senses of the first mouse. It would be easy to force a muscle movement with a brain signal, but to be able to consciously think and process another's rats sensory memory is odd. And yeah I would be terrified of the ghost telling me to push levers.

I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying. He reminded me too much of the Home Movies character Ken Adelberg.

that is fucking terrifying

That's not terrifying, that's downright amazing! It could open unimaginable possibilities to the human kind when an individuals brain power would just explode through the link.

The sex industry is always an early adopter so this thing might have some *hum* interesting applications.

Omg, that freaking show. I miss it. The best episode was when the kids went camping with Coach McGuirk and the Russian exchange student pees in coaches canteen lmao.

It's not the Matrix...it's the BORG. Rat BORG...you will be assimilated.

Now, to reality, it's probably simpler with lab rats as those lab rats are basically, for all intents and purposes, almost clones. Their complete physiology is mapped to well documented standards. I know this first hand as I happen to have worked with one of the 'Mayo clinic' brain surgeons who created the 'master' genes the lab rats are raised from, and he is part owner of the patent for them. (Yes, he is loaded beyond belief).

I don't see the Matrix or the Borg (Though I don't know much about Star Trek). What I see is a much less popular movie, The Gamer, where Gerard Butler plays a prisoner that takes part in a game where the players are controlled by another person, in the movie's case, a kid with really good twitch reflexes. The kid and Gerard are able to communicate but Gerard can't explicitly control his actions unless the kid lets him, eventually, if I remember right, they develop a symbiotic type of relationship.

If we were able to hook people up to this kind of system I could see it being very beneficial for all of humanity, of course its a double edged sword but having multiple minds directly interfacing to share ideas and information, bypassing language and culture barriers would be amazing for all fields of knowledge. Given enough advancement, it could be used to share a person's experiences with another. History class field trips to talk with people from WWII (hypothetical, they will all be dead by the time this tech appeared) could be replaced by censored memories from a person that really was there and experienced it.

I guess this idea also bleeds a bit into the idea that the Bruce Willis movie, Surrogates, introduced but requires a pretty big gain in robotics alongside this guys.

Uhhggg...you need to watch a few Star Trek and Star Trek Voyager Borg episodes...

If Andrew Ryan were in charge, petty morals and societal opinions wouldn't hinder the progress of mankind.
If Andrew Ryan were in charge, we would be doing this to people.

Now submit slaves! :D

Oh, and they want human telepathy?
The should be doing this in the heart of Chernobyl, and build the C-Consciousness!

Now that's research I could really get behind! :D

Take care of this now. Don't let it advance. They are going to tout the benefits to humanity to get our asses convinced to accept it, and use it for control means.
