I am really tempted to pull the trigger on this.

I almost bought one of these, but the reviews on those scare me. Good deal though.

Sceptre's are either good or bad from the start.

These things are WAY too poorly ran through QA for them to be worth the hassle.

Their customer service is fine, but their warranty work is like asking 5 year olds to work with a nuclear reactor. Difficult... to say the least.


Unfortunately, they also suffer from image persistence at unacceptable levels. I say all of this from first, second and third hand experience.

42" phillips are running $650 at local walmarts every day.... i dont think this is a deal to worry about at all.

Ya OP, take a pass on the sceptre, while it is a decent price on a 40" set, the brand name ruins it, both for quality and customer service from what i read.

here's another TV deal... 47" 1080p with ok stats for $699 free shipping.. no reviews but gets a fair rating at CNET. I reckon this would be a bit of a gamble, but that's a nice looking large-ish set for a good price. Sorry for thread stealish post.. but didn't want to open a new thread for this.
