This will be mostly for gaming... however vibrance is important.. but i don't do much graphic/cad stuff etc...

I don't really understand their line up ... what types of panels they are etc...

thanks..

mal

X20WC GAMER

X20WG NAGA

X20G NAGA III

leaning towards the gamer... mva panel

anything wrong with mva panels?

Sceptre X20G-Naga III 8ms G2G 20"WS AU Optronics P-MVA (M201EW01 V0)

Sceptre X20WC-Gamer 5ms G2G 20"WS MVA

Sceptre X20WG-Naga 5ms 20"WS TN Film

I've compared the x20wg directly to the x20 naga III and honestly I think if I were to do it again I'd pick the Nage III. It just looks overall better I guess.

I wouldn't get any Sceptre LCD. They have bad back light bleeding.

better one to get,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001081

I don't mean to shit on your reply but...i will. The sceptre LCD's have been keeping to around ~$100 cheaper than the Samsung ones. This is pretty much the reason most people get them. Similar (note I did NOT say same) quality LCD as the samsung (except for the stand...all sceptre stands i've seen just suck) for 50-100 less. In comparison to the other LCD's in this range (chimei, benq, and some of the no-name ones) I'd say the sceptre wins. With that said. Buy it from costco...it's $200 right now and costco's return policy kicks ass.

While looking for my monitor I checked several brands and models. I didnt find bleeding as a problem with 2 different x20 nagas and the gamer. Never saw the other model. I also saw them both running right next to eachother and there was no difference. Guess it just depends on the person and what you may want with the monitor.

i own the x20g naga III and of all the monitors that i have owned, this is the most satisfactory. very good picture quality with no noticeable ghosting. the big plus is that it accepts a 1080p/1080i signal so i have my 360 hooked up to it with the vga adapter and 1080p looks sick. great buy, definetly worth the price

type of panel mostly

p-mva vs. mva vs. tn

i'm also now looking at the Sceptre 22" for 329 vs. 229 for most of the ones above...

mal

The 22in is appealing, but the 20.1in is the same resolution with a finer dot pitch, so I'm leaning towards that... Unless someone can convince me the 22in is worth the extra price for an HDMI input and coarser dot pitch... (the HDMI is very appealing though  BUT, I can always buy a DVI to component adapter for XBox and all...)

yea the 22" is just nice bec i'm going from a 19" crt and a 20.1WS would be vertically smaller

is the dot pitch really that much bigger?

I came from a 19in also, I can probably post pics with them side by side, but the WS is much wider and only 1/8" shorter, which is NOTHING.

I've got the Naga III and I love it. Although this is my first LCD. No ghosting, minimal bleedthrough. The only problem I have with it is that it streches EVERY non 16:10 resolution, and some resolutions (1200x800) cut the bottom of the screen off with a VGA connection (menu says it's in 1280x768 mode). But if you keep it at 1680x1050 it looks great.

yea i'm looking to pounce on a naga III deal .. it's 269 on newegg right now but they charge me tax :(

Does chief value have it?

Well, my 19in CRT has a .21 dot pitch, and my last LCD had a .29 and I hated it. It was a little too pixely for my taste. So the 20in would be a happy medium for me. I wish I could see both side by side for comparison...
Has anyone noticed much of a difference?

did you guys noticed that tv monitor, cool huh? and cheap!

i looked at a 20 and a 22 in the store today and the 20 was sufficiently big

right

i'd say dual dell 30" would be sufficiently hard big
Meh...i'd say dual 100" Projectors...wouldn't that be fun.

Well since this was dug up I might as well post some comments about sceptre monitors. We recently have had need to buy quite a few monitors for our work environment and a few labs. Instead of buying dell's at some rather expensive prices (bullshit that they give educational institutions a discount), we went ahead and bought some of the Sceptres...about 40 in all in various sizes over the course of 2 months. We had one DOA out of the whole bunch and we contacted sceptre about it and they cross-shipped another one out on receiving CC info. Pretty good service if you ask me.

what about the quality of the panels... backlight, dead pixels, etc...

did one model stand out over the others?

Thanks for pointing out the sticky. It looks like MVA is the better bet than TN. I did a search online for other vendors of Sceptre and didn't find any other than Newegg. Is this their brand? If not, looks like they have the market cornered on this one.

I also saw that Costco has them for $180 after rebates. Not bad, but I'm guessing State sales tax needs to be added.

Anyone know why they have free shipping on the Naga and not the Gamer? Kinda sucks it's gonna cost almost 10% more for my 2 monitors just for shipping!

The ones that were the best of the bunch were the Naga III's. They usually had the best color and backlight of the two 20's we tried. The 19's are damn near worthless IMHO but they work great for simple camera monitoring stations. These have all been replacing 17" Dell CRT's around our office, and quite a few of them have been put on ergotron arms.
