We're scanning documents through a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 connected to a Zero Client ... or basically a USB connection converted to an Ethernet connection. The problem we have here with our VDI environment is that it takes about 7-8 seconds between each page scanned in for the scanner to receive its raw uncompressed bitmap of the scanned document.
Are there any [cheap] scanners that feature hardware-based compression at the scanner?
