The other day I was using my computer when I noticed that the windows clock was about 5 minutes fast. I didn't really think anything of it and just synced the clock with the internet time sync and went about my business. Since then however I've noticed that every day or every other day the clock will end up about 5 minutes fast. I don't have any software installed that would alter the time, and I don't turn my computer off so I doubt it's a bios battery, other than that I don't know what it could be. I've had this happen to one other board years ago and in that case it was a sign that the board was bad so I exchanged it. But I've had this box for a year and a half with no problems, why would it start doing this now? Any help would be appreciated.
 
Is the bios time setting set fast? If so then that's why it keeps changing in windows... for some reason (in some cases I've seen) windows automatically uses the system time on every boot.
 
I just got home from class and noticed that the clock had gained about a minute. I restarted into the BIOS and the bios clock was correct (ie: a minute slower than the windows clock). What could be causing windows to gain time like it is?
 
alien death-rays aimed at your house? not sure really... I'm stuck now :/
 
just synch it to an atomic clock. no matter what OS, there is software to do that.
