I havent checked lately in Device Manager what my sound card was listed as because I've never had to worry about it.
Then one day I was playing BF 1942 and noticed in the full screen view of flying a plane I have really bad sound effects, and some kind of popping sound. I noticed some similar things in tanks and other parts of the game. None of this was ever there it all worked fine. The strange thing is this is the only game that has any problems.
An just today for no reason at all, everything with sound quit working. I had to reinstall the drivers and everything came back, a restart didnt do anything.
Everything else seems to work fine, mp3's, video's, etc. I did notice that in Device Manager my sound card was now listed as either "Sound Blaster Live! Basic (WDM)" or "Sound Blaster Live! Value" If I remember correctly it was something else, I just dont remember what, but im pretty sure it wasnt value or basic, its not even a "value" version, its supposed to be the "gamer" version.
I have reseated the card in the PCI slot, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers. I have tweaked the Windows 2K Services pretty hard, only loading like 6-8 things, I dont see why that would matter.
I looked on the card and the model is: SB0060. And the chip was: EMU10K1-SEF.
Maybe I just dont know what im talking about, but the card seems to be acting weird all the sudden.
