from what i can tell, sound never comes out of my center channel. In games, movies or music no sound, but if i do the speaker test from the creative drivers, it says center and it comes out of the center channel, how can i enable it so the center channel is on all the time(would audigy drivers help)?

For games, the game needs to feature 5.1 output first. Not too many games offer this yet, only 4.1 or stereo. For DVD movies, you probably just need to enable 5.1 output in the setup menus of the DVD player program. For most DivX flicks, you're not likely to ever get 5.1 since they usually feature stereo ("2.1") sound. For music, you would need an appropriate plugin for your audio player program. Only SACD, DVD Audio, and select DTS audio CDs feature 5.1 sound without further modification.

If the games you play feature DirectSound support, then you should be getting sound from all 5 channels. Games create a 3D buffer, asign its location in 3D space (X-Y-Z co-ordinates) and the sound card driver then determines which speaker to place it in. This is regardless of what speaker settings you have. If you have 5.1 selected in the speaker settings then you should have audio firing in all 5 if the developer chose to author with surround in mind. It's also important to remember that not all games implement 3D audio on the same level.

On the other hand, the problem could arise from the games you're playing. For Example, games that use the previous versions of the Miles sound engine would make a call, upon launching the game that set the speaker settings to 2 channel stereo. This was a Miles thing that they knew about and fixed in later versions. Is this occuring in all games you play, or is it random?
