Save As/Open on windows xp

In internet explorer when I click a zip files it automatically tries to open it instead of prompting me to save as. How can I set it to open the save as dialog box like with every other file?

Why don't you just click the file in the zip folder and press Extract and put it on your desktop?

Or you can right-click on the link and choose "Save target as"

Sometimes you cant... e.g. if the link is to a script page like php or asp that then goes and opens the zip.

Have you tried changing the action in the file association? Open My Computer, then go to TOOLS> FOLDER OPTIONS. Click the FILE TYPES tab, and find the ZIP extention on the left. Click that, then click the ADVANCED button. Check the CONFIM OPEN AFTER DOWNLOAD box. Should work then.
