Sattelite internet?

Does anyone have experience with sattelite? DSL and Cable arent available here =( .. would I get worse online game pings than I do now with 56k?

Keep the 56k... its waaaayyyy cheaper and has about half the ping...

I have heard of some satellite pings being about 800ms!

yeah satellite isnt good for games at all. If you were just downloading files and surfing the internet I would say it might be worth it. But for games...no way.

AGREED. I had DirecPC and it was good for d/l files...as long as you didn't d/l 600mb within a 2 hour period. They are a bunch of rat bastards and if you d/l so much in a certain amount of time they cut your speed in half. They keep doing that until you stop d/l stuff for a couple days.

IF you do go with Sat. internet, go with Starband as I hear they don't suck as bad but are more expensive (equipment alone is like 500-700$)

A friend couldn't get cable or dsl but could get an ISDN line out to his house. I know that's not the best, but it's way better than a dial up 56 k connection.

but then again, in most areas, ISDN is more expensive than Satellite.
