Then i wonder why uhh.. if sata is 3.0gb/s and then the cable that comes w/ this hdd says that it can only support data transfer rates of up to 1.5 Gbps

And in case you hadn't heard, it doesn't matter whether you get 1.5 or 3.0 gbps. Your drive won't even hit 100 MB/s except in burst transfer rate (which only happen for a small fraction of a second) so limiting yourself to 150 MB/s or 300 won't make any measurable difference.

Yep all SATA cables are capable of 1.5 and 3.0gbps operation. In fact, we've been using standard cheap-o SATA cables to run our 3.0gbps SAS drives without an issue.
