hi,

my friend has a intel system with a asus p4pe 2.8ghz (533Mhz) and he wanted to hook up his SATA drive (200GB Maxtor), for some reason it wont show up it says the SATA driver is installed and the device manager states that it's working fine. i can only see the hard drive in the bios. with my AMD mobo it went fine i just installed the raid controller and then it poped up in my compter.
on his computer i also checked out the drive manager or w/e it's called and i only saw his primary hard drive i mean the one that windows is installed.

i hope i wrote the describtion clear enough. is it actually even possible to use it as a normal drive or only for raid?

thanks for looking
btw. i searched and only found a thread that asked if you can run raid with one drive.

Make sure that the BIOS is set to non-raid for the channel you plugged the drive into.

actually i noticed it brings up an error message in the bios when it tries to detect the driver. so i dont know i just told him to get a IDE lol and return the SATA i'm fedup with that stuff
