sata with new MBs?

do you still need to have a floppy to install sata drivers on new motherboards like nforce4?
 
No, you can get around it (even if you do need drivers) You can slipstream RAID drivers onto your XP CD. It's a fairly lengthy procedure that requires you to edit some driver catalogs, but it's worth it if you reformat frequently.

If you're using RAID, you will need either the F6 disk or slipstreamed drivers. If you're not using RAID, it may be possible for Windows to interact with the disks using the generic ATA driver. Many Intel chipsets have this capability with SATA SLED. Try it and see.
 
PC mag’s website has a pretty good article on how to build a slipstream install CD. Besides making your SATA drivers easier to install you can add SP-2 which means you won’t have any problems with really big drives during your install process. Also, you can add your network drivers etc as well as your serial number making it one very painless and quick install.

Other sites have instructions as well, either way it’s well worth the time (half hour or so) to make one.
