so I got my new raptor today, 150 gigs 16 meg cache and it is sata, yay I am happy... till I try to install windows.
I put the drive in my machine and took my old one out, I plugged my PUS to the drive using the SATA power cables that the PSU had, then I took one of the SATA cables that came with my ASUS mobo and plugged one end into the HDD and the other end into the SATA 1 spot on my mobo, then I restarted my machine.
when the machine is loading the BIOS I pressed the delete key to get into the BIOS and all went well, the drive is recognized on SATA master 1, I set the machine to boot from my CD drive so I can install windows, I opened my cd trey and put the disk in, and closed the trey, I exited out of the BIOS and restarted the machine.
The machine ran from the cd drive and did all the windows things, then I get to the install screen, when it asked for partitioning info, set that up and went to the formatt screen, when it went to the format screen, there was an error saying that it cant format that partition.
Is there something that I should know about useing the SATA option on my mobo? do I need to... well really I just dont know, did you guys need to do something to your drive to install windows in SATA? also, I do not have any jumper setting in the master/slave jumper area on the drive, the drive didnt come with a jumper so I thought it was not needed, is it?
the sum it all up, How do I install windows on SATA, my specs are in my sig
thanks for any help or ideas.
(I browsed through the search function but didnt really find any help there, but that is about as far as I got)
