SATA vs. IDE -- sustained rates question

Hey, gang.

I've been trying to find information on sustained rates of IDE drivers versus those of SATA drives. All I can come up with is a lot of theoretical max burst rates, but nothing on sustained rates.

For the box I need to build, I need higher sustained rates.

Can any point me in the right direction or give me some numbers to work with?

Check out the stickies in this forum.

And at present time there isn't a real difference between SATA, PATA, and even SATA II for sustained rates.

We've kinda hit the wall imposed by the mechanical limitations of the harddrives.

If you want the fastest, both burst and sustained then look at SCSI u320.

Just don't get sticker shock. :eek:
