SATA vs IDE on an nForce3

since you are comparing a 7200.10 to a 7200.8, it is likely that the difference in chace and improved areal density will make the SATA drive faster, though it depends whether your 320GB drive is a short stroked bigger one of not (see storagereview forums).

However, the difference in speed will not be due to the interface change, but rather intrinsic to the improvements that were made to the seagate HDDs over the course of two generations. Whether the speed increase in noticable, I am not sure.
