I just replaced a broken DVD drive that had an ATAPI/E-IDE interface for one with a SATA interface.

Any benefits to having a SATA vs ATAPI/E-IDE drive?

Also, does it matter that I have a EIDE ribbon connected to the motherboard without anything connected to it? The cable was so neatly wired I just layed it in an empty bay.

Benefits include cleaner wiring, but not much else IMO.

You can leave the connector there, won't harm anything.

The EIDE (20x DVD Drive) one that died was under warranty. They replaced with a SATA (24x DVD Drive) without me knowing/asking. I am annoyed by this because my case was all wired for EIDE in my optical drive bays.

Bunch of wasted time running a SATA cable neatly and getting the SATA power out of the zip ties.

Wish they had just sent me another EIDE drive due to the wasted time.

Would you pull the PATA cable out if you were me?

Yes, no reason for it to be there. Those ribbon cables are antiquated.

My old ass PC in my sig that I built way back in 2006 I intentionally eliminated all traces of such then.

before you pull it, lets see a pic so we can all appreciate the hard work you put into your IDE Cablegami. :p
