SATA Raid problem, Looking for help

I'm learning as I go when troubleshooting this problem since it isn't my system and I've not delt with raid before.

The setup is: 2 200gb drives(1 Maxtor and 1 WD) connected to a SIIG SC-SA4R12 PCI raid card using Raid1. When booting, then raid utility screen comes up and displays "Incomplete raid array detected". In the Raid utility, both the Maxtor and WD are listed, however in the "logical drive" info screen, only the WD has info about the hard drive present. The Maxtor is listed as "Invalid raid drive".

My question is this, the manual does not tell you what Invalid raid drive means. Has the hard drive failed? I don't think so because you can connect either drive to an on-board SATA port and boot successfully. The other options are Create raid array, and Delete raid array.

Looking for any pointers on this one, if you need more info please ask and I'll provide it!

Not sure but maybe it wants a pair of "matching" hard drives? Dunno how picky it is these days.
 
It could be that that drive got corrupted and thus the controller doesn't recognize it. Recreate the array and select the option to build it from the WD. If that doesn't work, restore from backups.

Thanks for the pointers. The corrupted drive is a very good possibility. When I try to recreate the array, I get a message stating not enough single drives exist. Im assuming this is because only 1 drive is showing up properly, and the other says "invalid raid drive". I believe there is a similar message when I try to restore, but would have to double check.

The other option is to delete the array, and when I select that it immedinatly highlights the invalid drive. Now I have not actually gone through and deleted it because Im worried about losing data. This is raid1 though, and I may be thinking about raid that involves striping that you cannot delete without losing all the data.
