Hello everyone!
I am planning some upgrades to my home storage server. I have picked up four Seagate 1.5TB 7200RPM drives for the project. I also have a Dell CERC SATA 1.5 6ch controller card. I was going to simply put all the drives inside a RAID1 array for redundancy, but after reviewing the manual (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/raid/CERCbest.pdf ) it would seem that the card will not support this configuration. Page 23 states that there is a 2TB limitation placed on any single array. I thought about using Windows Disk Management to create the mirrored drives, but its not possible to span two drives together then mirror that volume onto another spanned volume... if that makes sense. Has anyone had a good experience with an inexpensive card that supports RAID0 in this configuration or a software based RAID solution?
Thanks in advance!
