SATA/RAID Controller Problem

Hi, I've done a clean install of Win XP like 3 times within 2 days now and am getting really, really frustrated. I have 2 120gig WD SATA drives both hooked up to my onboard SATA controller (A7N8X-E Deluxe 2.0). Windows does not find a "RAID Controller" driver suitable for my system. If I install ANY drivers from ANYWHERE (mobo cd, asus site, etc.) the system will hang on the Windows Loading screen. Also, I have no advanced power settings (Standby, Hibernate) but I'm assuming this is linked to my previous problem. Any help?

I am having a similar p[roblem with the same board. But I am tring to install a single 120GB WD, not two. The bios is finding my drive but it hangs before it tries to access my cd drive or floppy drive. Maybe your issue may help me solve mine and mine yours. I am trying to do a clean install on this drive.

Here is my thread

Well, I fixed my problem, it only took 4 reinstallations of Windows XP with FOUR different SATA/RAID drivers :p

@ Darkeone:

You should be able to run a single SATA driver through your SATA/RAID Controller. My 2nd drive is pretty much storage/backup. In your BIOS, make sure you have your primary boot device selected as "SCSI" (same deal as SATA/RAID). Just because it says "RAID Controller, etc., etc., doesn't mean you have to run your SATA HD in RAID ;). Also, be sure to get the latest SATA drivers from Silicon Image's website (10426 or something), and do a fresh install of Windows with those drivers (they're digitally signed too!). Good luck.

also obviously (or maybe not) when you are prompted during the install to
press F6 to install additional SCSI drivers
do so, it will continue on its merry way for awhile and then ask for the floppy
give it the SATA drivers

in the BIOS (and these vary considerably) select SCSI or SATA and look for any BUS Manager entry (different menu)

carefully review the manual regarding the BIOS features
