I'm getting new hardware and was wondering if i should go sata, or just stick with a pata hard drive. The motherboard will be an Asus K8V and the HD would either be a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 80GB sata, or a Western Digital 80GB pata. It would just be a single HD in the system. No RAID of any kind. Which HD would you get?

Go with SATA. It's a newer standard and when you upgrade your system or do a complete rebuild, you will have a hdd compatible with it. SATA definitely makes more sense to get in the long run.
