I have a quick question about multilane raid. Are the only benefits in using multilane is cable management or are there also some bandwidth benefits? The only thing I can find is just talk about cables. I am talking about SATA Multilane.
 
AFAIK, it is indeed just a cabling method, and doesn't have anything to do with the bandwidth involved
 
If you want to actually aggregate the bandwidth of multiple serial lanes you'll need to use SAS instead of SATA/SATA II. One of the nifty features that make it worth the extra money :D
