Do they use the same SATA connector as desktops? I was thinking about getting one for my HTPC. Thanks!
 
yes, if u want to plug the HD to a comp.

no, if u want to plug a regular HD on a laptop.
 
Okay now I'm confused......how can it work one way and not the other if it has the same connector?

To clarify I want to take a laptop HDD and connect it to a desktop computer via SATA. Thanks.
 
The connectors are the same. You can hook a laptop sata drive into a desktop.
