SATA issue

finished building my system today:
AMD 64 3500+
2 Leadtek 6600GT extreme
2 seagate 80gb sata drives.
msi k8n neo4 plat board.
Here's my problem: computer is slooow.
think it a harddrive issue since my system keeps reminding me it's safe to unplug my harddrives. Is this normal with a sata setup. also when I try to change my hd setup in the bios to manual, when trying to detect them, system freezes.
Something is just not right and I have no clue where to start looking. All latest drivers and bios are installed.
I'm an absolute newbie to this all, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Use SoftSandra to benchmark all the parts of your system and see if anything one part is running slow.

Because the SATA drives are ment to be hot swapable, the unplug message sometimes comes up when useing certain Mobo's & Windozes.

you install ur all in one drivers that came with the mobo?

However, you will still need to download a good HD benching program, such as HD Tach, as SiSoft is notorious for doing terrible and inconsistant HD benching.
