I was wondering if anyone can help me out, I did a search and couldnt find anything specific to my problem.
Yesterday I got a new Sata drive (Seagate baracuda, 40gb). My previous setup was a single 80gb hdrive ona p4p800 asus board. When I got home I connected the new drive to SATA1 port and went into the bios where it was recognized on the 3rd hd channel. Under the IDE configuration in the bios I set it to enhanced mode, and P-ata/Sata. The Sata as raid option is set to No (if its enabled it gives another option about Sata as bootrom and I ddint know what that ment , nor did I think I needed my sata drive to work as a raid). After bootig to windows xp, XP finds 2 new IDE channels but cant install them properly. However my sata hard drive shows up under my computer and seagates diskwizard can partition etc. and I can copy files over to it.

However everytime i reboot new hardware finds the channels and gives the same error message. Im at a loss here, I installed the Intel driver package from my cd rom (agp, sata support and some other things from what the description says). However I cant install the intel application accelleration software (which I think I only need if Im running a sata raid) because it says its not supported.

I just want my hardrive sata channels to stop getting redetected each time I boot and for them to actually be recognized as SATA anyone have any suggestions
