I am rather new here, and was curious if you guys could help me with a few questions.
I was looking at the hot deals forum, and found the lnik for this.
500 GB SATAII 16MB Buffer
I'm goign to buy one of these momentarily. One question, my motherboard is still rather new. I use two SATA hard-drives right now. I've never used SATA II before, I understand its an upgrade over SATA150(150 gb/s to 300 gb/s) but is it any different on my motherboard? Do I use the same SATA cable?
I looked on that website to buy a new SATA cable, and they appear to have SATA II cables. Is this just a reason to pay double the price for an SATA cable, or do you actually need a SATAII cable?
Also, if my motherboard supports SATA, is there any worry that SATAII might not be accepted?
Here is a link to my motherboard. Link. From the description, I read it twice, and i'm slightly confused. Sounds like it does support SATA II, but I wanna make sure before I spent $200.
*edit* The hard-drive is going to be used as an achive to store all of my files. My primary reason for wantign to get one of these, is to replace my external hard-drive because it is not very reliable.
