I just ordered some 250 GB Seagates from Monarch for my X2 build. $236 shipped for two. However, I can get two Hitachi 250s from Newegg for $259 shipped. Is the $15 some odd dollars worth it? My Monarch order still has not shipped so I can cancel it.
 
I would stick with the Seagates. You will gain some performance from the Hitachi drives, but you will lose two years of warranty and the ease of advanced warranty replacement should one of the drives fail. You've got a great deal on those Seagates. Unless performance is the of the utmost importance, stick with them.
 
I just don't want to feel too far behind for at least two years.

At the same time though, adding another raid volume when you've got eight SATA ports is about as painless as you can get, I'd imagine.
 
SATA2 sometimes has higher burst speeds but the rest is usually the same.
