SATA...IDE mode / AHCI mode problems

i just assembled everything last week; windows is installed on the ssd (no ssd caching) pagefile is moved to a separate partition on the hdd. the system has been running for about 3 days and started getting really sluggish today

i installed most of the large programs (mostly games) on a separate partition that's mounted on a folder on c:\

now windows will just hang when trying to load; when i start it in safe mode it takes extra long to load classpnp.sys

googled the problem and everyone says to disable ahci and run the drives in IDE mode instead...i tried that and it immediately blue screens...is there a way to fix this without reformatting?
 
I had the reverse blue screen on my install. (Originally installed in IDE mode, then tried to switch over to AHCI mode and it BSOD'd on boot.) You'll have to switch back to AHCI mode, boot, and then somehow figure out how to install the IDE driver I believe... then you should be able to boot in IDE mode.

Though disabling AHCI seems like a weird solution. Are you near capacity on your SSD already?
