i have an sata hd set up and working fine since i built my pc back in june

ive been hearing alot of talk about the red sata cables
my mobo came with red and yellow sata cables, im using yellow
is that ok?

whats the difference between cables?!
and i get the safely remove hardware thing in the windows taskbar for my hard drive isnt that only for usb stuff?!

There's no difference between the red and yellow ones  :p

The "Safely Remove Hardware" option is a result of Serial ATA's hot-swapping ability. If you wanted to, you could add/remove the drive without restarting Windows, just like with your USB devices. Any device/interface that supports hot-swapping in Windows can do so; this also includes IEEE-1394/FireWire and CardBus/PCMCIA products.

I have three different sets of SATA cables: two came with the mobo (the board itself has both non-RAID and SATA RAID ports) and one that came with the drive. I'm using the ones that came with the drive. SATA drives are *all* how-swappable (but most hard drives are not hot-pluggable) which makes using SATA drives as non-boot drives a plug-and-play affair (and using htem with a *slipstreamed* (with SP2) version of XP a yawner (my 200 GB DiamondMax saw the whole drive, and I haven't even used *half* the capacity yet!).
