SATA external worth it?

If I'm going to be using it mostly with laptops? Would it even be worth the extra money to get a SATA external? most of the laptops I am going to be using it with will have 5400 rpm drives.

For what? Keeping your documents on? Playing games from? Recording music to? Sata would only be necessary if you were using it for a disk-bound application; storing documents on it, or downloading stuff to it, even, wouldn't count. Unless you're downloading stuff over BitTorrent on a T3 or something.

Anyways, I'd guess you can just stick with plain usb->ide enclosures.
