I recently received a new computer but want to make sure I've got everything I need in the event of my system messing up. It's a pre-built custom rig with a 250Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA hard drive. Is it supposed to come with a floppy disk for SATA drivers or will my WinXP automatically detect it upon install? Just that I've read around that some SATA drives need some extra drivers.

depends on the motherboard really.

what board is it? and what is the controller chipset for the sata?

Board is Abit Fatal1ty AN8-SLI

Not sure how to find the controller chipset for the SATA.

Single drive, just use the generic ATA drivers built into Windows XP SP2

RAID, slipstream the NVRAID drivers onto your install CD. A program called nLite makes this much easier.
