Hello, I am having some problems with my new SATA hard drive. I will list the events in order of what happened.

1. Installed SATA Drive, Recognized it no problem
2. Installed Vista Beta on SATA drive
3. Worked fine for about a month
4. Computer started crashing
5. Found out it was crashing because the hard drive was 'shutting off'?
6. Checked all connections, checked to see if the HD powered on with computer
7. Everything looked fine, powered on. Also tried changing to another SATA port, same thing.
8. Computer would recognize HD occasionally and boot to Vista
9. Put IDE hard drive back in for primary and it worked fine
10. Plugged back in the SATA drive and booted from IDE drive, detected drive once in every 10 restarts, booted to login screen and froze
11. Tried the SATA on another computer, worked fine
12. Replaced power supply, still not detected.

Not sure what to try now? The drive seems to be functioning fine on other computers?

Thanks in advance!
Zach

check cable, check power connection, check sata header on motherboard in that order.

If the drive works fine in another computer, and you have change PSU's, sounds like the motherboard is bad.
