SATA Diskette problem

Are you attempting to do a fresh install of windows, or do you already have an operational windows install and just can't get it to see the drive? If the latter, does windows detect and recognize the SATA controller (I'm on a completely different setup than you, but in my case the integrated SATA controller "just worked" but my secondary SATA controller needed drivers to be seen)?
If you are trying to do a fresh install and can't get windows to detect the SATA drive, you'll need to check the CD that came with your MB and see if it has an option to make a driver floppy to provide to the windows install (or go online and grab the drivers from the MB maker's website) or if it at least contains the drivers which you can manually toss on a floppy. If you don't have access to a floppy drive, the only other way out shy of buying one would be to make a slip-streamed XP install disk. Use google and you should find plenty of instructionals on how to do this. It's a bit more time-consuming than just hooking up a spare floppy but in the long run it is rather nice to have a stand-alone windows install CD that has all the needed drivers present (you can also go one step further and create an automated XP install CD, but one thing at a time!).

Actually i have made a slipstreamed XP cd for my needs but this damn cd burner isnt working right!!!!!
Also i am trying to do a repair or even a format of the HD,but it wont detect a "Mass storage device".
So what i am wondering is,does anyone know of the drivers i would need to put on the floppy for the F6 option?
I've tried the iaar353 and 45 and neither of thos worked ;(

Well, since this is a Dell, and I work on them for a living... it's DEFINITELY an intel 925 chipset. Make sure your SATA channels aren't turned off in BIOS, Dell does this by default on systems that ship without SATA drives because their BIOS throws an error code if left on with no drive. If your BIOS doesn't recognize the SATA drive as a Hard Disk Drive you might also have to hit alt+f in the BIOS to get the system to re-detect IDE devices. Your Dell O/S disc should have the drivers already slipstreamed.
Ya i know they do but BUT i dont have the CDs! They are no where to be found,which means the people who took the comp to college for me must be hoding them for me...or something.
So do you know of any program that would load the drivers to a floppy? its all i need to do ATM to fix this issue ;(
