I have 160 Gb Maxtor SATA disk. Well, the disk was almost full, it has winxp installed and everything was working fine. Yesterday, when i turned my comp on boot up failed. It was starting to enter windows and then all i get is black screen. This is the first time i ever had this problem.

If you insert the WinXP install CD and attempt to reinstall WinXP, does it detect the HD?

If it does, this could mean two things:
- Windows killed itself, or
- the HDD (or another component in the system) is failing.

It it doesn't, it means that the HD or another component is broken.

i tried to reinstall winxp and couldnt do it, it wont run when i choose in setup tu update or to install new windowsxp.

So, unfortunately, i think i can say good bye to my disk...
