SATA Controller suggestions? non raid

We are looking to employ SATA drives in some of our workstations and I am unsure of which controller card would serve the purpose best. Straight up comparisons on controller cards (non raid) are difficult to come by.

These drives will not be in constant use but the controller must be rock solid reliable; any recomendations are appreciated.

BTW we are probably going with Hitachi 7K250's for the drives possibly 7K400's if they become readily available before we make the purchase.
