I'm looking for an SATA controller card (PCI or PCI-E) that fully supports optical drives. The SATA controllers on my motherboard (Intel ICH7R and Marvell 88SE6145) support reading CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays, but not writing to any of them. Can anyone recommend a controller card that does?

Support for SATA III would be nice, but isn't required. Thanks.

That sounds very strange.

Are you sure that the optical disk is working? I mean I have seen quite a few writers quit writing after some time but still read fine.

I've tried multiple drives and SATA cables. I'll go ahead and pick up another drive to test it, since they're only $25.

Yeah, it sounds like the software or hardware isn't functioning as SATA supports all I/O transfers, including burning optical media. Definitely try another drive.

I picked up an Asus DRW-24B1ST and it works beautifully. Guess both of my Lite-Ons are dead.
