Sata Cables

The first one is made for a WD drive that has secure connect ports on the back. Its basically their own (superior) version of the SATA data and Power cable connectors.

The second one is just a plain jane SATA data cable.
 
If i use the western digitial one... Do i still need to plug in the 4 pin power cable?
 
Yes, the Secure Connect cables require use of a 4 pin molex connector, not the newer SATA power connectors. This is not a bad thing, WD drives are built to run of either (but not both!) power connector.
 
whats the point of having a cord that goes into the sata power slot and still hvae to plug in the 4 pin power cable?....
so im forced to plug int he WD cord and the power one?
 
Guess you never had sata cable break on you yet heh, they are not very strong or secure, that is reason for this connector.
