are SATA I (150) cables compatable with SATA II (300)? IE like USB 1.1 cables are also compatable with USB 2.0 Thanks
 
I believe they are backwards compatible.

A SATA II cable will work on a SATA I drive, but at SATA I speeds.

I'm guessing that a SATA I cable will either:

a) not work on a SATA II drive at all
b) work on a SATA II drive, but at SATA I speeds.
 
all sata cables are the same

some sata cables have extra clips and a little bit stiffer in the connectors then others these are sometimes definded as sata 2 cables
 
The issue is very similar to USB 1.1 vs USB 2.0 cables. Most of the time the only difference in marketing. If you get really, really crappy SATA cables, they may not work at 3Gbps signalling speeds, but even the ones that came with my mobos all seem to work fine regardless of what drive they are connected to.

bottom line: there is no difference in specifications for the cables, hence all are the same and the only difference is marketing.
 
They are also notched slightly differently, but from what I've seen the shielding is the same, so there's no reason they speed should be different.
