Is it a bad idea to plug in a modular sata cable into the pcie slot of the power supply?
I know pcie probably supplies more amperage, but if the peripherals attached to the sata cable are only drawing what they need, shouldnt be okay? Or can it provide more current than is needed?
Thanks for your replies

The pinouts don't match at all, if i'm understanding what you're trying to do correctly.

yes it's a bad idea. SATA power cables provide +12v, +5v, and usually +3.3v. PCie usually only provides +12v. The power supply's modular plugs will be wired to reflect that, and usually keyed so that one type will not plug into another.
