For windows vista will you have to load sata drivers by pressing f6 or will the sata drivers already be installed in the os. When i get vista i may get a new sata hard drive then. I was just wondering. thanks.
 
I would say that the most appropriate answer will be: "it depends".

Most likely, if your setup does not require F6 in WinXP it will not require F6 in Vista.
 
I don't know if it's completely relevant, but my roommate just installed Vista on a sata disk without using F6 drivers. He's on an NForce3 board IIRC.

It'll be a function of what sata controller you're using, and I think they've built quite a few more into the install disk now. Try it and see, and it won't be too hard to fix it if it doesn't work. I think they're supporting loading drivers off a USB stick now, too - no more floppies :D

 
Ever machine i have installed vista, Via, nvidia and etc have had the sata builtin to the os.
