sata and ide??

what is the difference between the two? sata runs teh same speed has ide so is there any point in getting sata?? only the western digital raptor is fatser den both these
 
EIDE is currently at ATA133 or 133Mbs on the channel path.
SATA would be ATA150 or 150Mbs on the channel path, so they are not the same

Most hard drives are 7200 rpms, so they are the same in that respect. As far as I know, the WD raptors are the only 10,000 rpm SATA drives.

If you have a mobo with native sata then you will see a big difference. If you have non native sata or add in card you will see minor difference if any. This is because it is still linked to the PCI bus and has to share bandwith with it while native solutions are not. Also all SATA drives out now are not equal. SOme just have built in PATA to SATA which means its just your standard ata 133 drive. SO make sure you buy a true SATA drive. The other benefit of SATA is the smaller cables which restricts airflow less.
