Hi guys, right now I have a samsung 80 gb drive in ide and I was conteplating getting a 36gb raptor in SATA and using it for my game installs exclusively. I want to keep my 80gb drive as my boot drive, however. Is there any way I can do this?

Yeah, why couldn't you? One thing though, you may consider getting a 74 gb and just using it as the boot drive and games. The 36gb really isn't any faster than some of the new 7200 rpm 16mb drives.

Yes, this will work; however, consider investing the extra in a 74gb raptor. The performance difference between the 36 and say a maxline III isn't worth the difference in price.

When contemplating upgrading to a newer/faster HDD, you should always plan on making the newer/faster drive your boot drive to get as much benefit from the increased performance as possible. Also, as others have pointed out, the 36GB Raptor is not very compelling. Either save your money towards the 73GB, or buy the biggest 7200RPM/16MB drive you can afford, as it will deliver comparable performance to the 36GB Raptor and provide much more capacity.
