Sata and Ata hard drive problem

I just got a new case and a new 74gb Raptor hard drive. The Raptor is my first sata hard drive and I've been having some problems. I want to have my operating system on my raptor and then everything else on my regular ata drive. The problem is, whenever I try to boot with my regular ata connected it automaticly boots the windows that is on my ata. I have windows on my sata, and im running it now. Whenever the ata is connected it boots the windows on that. How can I change that? I've tried changing the jumper setting to making my ata the slave and sata the master, but still the same. I cant change anything in the bios because it doesent recognize the Sata. I installed the sata drivers while instaling windows xp though, and everything has been working fine. I really need some help. Thanks.

i'll have to agree. my asus a8v has the option to boot to each drive. you should be able to choose the boot to sata

have you flashed to the newest BIOS? that may take care of it....hopefully

otherwise, do you have another system that does recognize sata drives? you could see if the drive is good there.
